Old Mutual Theatre on the Square offers great end-of-year entertainment!

September 10, 2009

The end of the year is upon us, and it’s time to celebrate the coming of summer with some great corporate entertainment!

The Old Mutual Theatre on the Square on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton has an extra-special line-up planned for end-of-year parties and corporate entertainment! The shows on offer are diverse and offer plenty of fun for anyone interested!

Defending the CavewomanThe first offering is Defending the Cavewoman from 1 to 26 September, which is back by popular demand. After 10 years of all-round success, the show still fizzles with feminine fun for all! Emma Peirson’s South African comedy is back home, starring the original, celebrated cavewoman Vanessa Frost.  The production is a funny response to the Caveman story and the script digs deep into the female mind, and sends the male of our species in all directions as it debunks the stereotypical thoughts about how women think.

The Blues BrothersNext up is The Blues Brothers from 29 September to 24 October, a high energy smash hit musical that entertains with a big band and back-up singers. Afro Asia Events presents this fabulous musical featuring the best rock hits in the world. Johan Baird and Alwyn Kotze are sensational performers, while the songs are the cream in the coffee with their charming and skilful delivery. The costumes are great too!

Beauty and the BEEThe third offering is the ever-popular Beauty and the BEE from 27 October to 21 November. Ben Voss, of Black Mamba and Green Mamba renown, returns once again to bring his alter-ego, Beauty Ramapelepele, to the stage. Beauty is a savvy, super-rich Houghton mother of two, but her connections in the social and business empire around her makes for plenty of satirical fun! The show was the hit of 2008, originally directed by the famous Janice Honeyman, and now returns to bring more hilarity to our lives!

A Spoof Full of SugarThe final offering is A Spoof Full of Sugar from 24 November to 31 December. Presented by the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square in association with Ramsden & Bosch Productions, it features an all-star cast and spoofs our local and international entertainment industry and personalities. This satirical revue is the perfect antidote for the festive season, and no famous person will escape its criticism and humour!

Book early with the Theatre to avoid disappointment. There are special discounts available for early bookings, and a dinner and theatre package can also be arranged with leading restaurants on Nelson Mandela Square, including Lekgotla Restaurant, The Butcher Shop and Grill, Montego Bay, and Wangthai Restaurant.

This is the easiest and most perfect arrangement for parties, functions and corporate events!
