FreeState 500

December 28, 2009

The Free State 500 NAS car race promises to be one of the most spectacular Motor racing events ever seen in South Africa. 24 monstrous V 8’ ASA NAS cars from AMERICA will race around the Phakisa Super oval at speeds in excess of 300km/h for 500km, a mere 3 meters from the front row spectators, sitting safely behind a safety fence. The inaugural Free State 500 will take place at Phakisa Freeway near Welkom over four days culminating with a 207 lap race on the Super Oval on 31 January 2010.  This is a joint initiative of the Free State government and the American Speed Association (ASA) based in Daytona Florida USA, the “Battle Between Two Continents” (as the event is being billed) will see drivers from both countries compete against each other in the Transcontinental version of America’s most popular motor racing formula. Be part of this amazing spectacle.
