Montecasino hotel guests are spoilt for choice!

May 7, 2010

It’s difficult to believe that where Montecasino now stands was once 26-hectares of barren land. This land now receives one million visitors every month, and, with the new Southern Sun Montecasino Hotel, the entertainment centre’s offering has just expanded.

The hotel opened at the end of April 2010, and the alluring Venetian-inspired luxury four-star hotel adds 194 rooms to the precinct. There are 97 double rooms, four standard rooms, a room for physically challenged guests and two studio suites, making the hotel ideal for both the sport and leisure market.

The hotel’s location in the new business and conference district called The Pivot makes it the ideal location for those travelling for business as well! The hotel is modelled on the Palazzo Corsini, which was built at the end of the 15th century on the slope between Gianicolo and the Tiber in Italy. The hotel reflects both this old-world feel and modern aesthetic.

The hotel also features a 120-seater restaurant, Punchinello’s, which is a showcase of Southern Sun’s fine culinary talents. Gerard Vingerling is the executive chef, and he has created a selection of modern and classic dishes for the menu, which can be paired with a bouquet of beautiful South African wines.

Now Montecasino is not only a hub of activity for local guests; hotel guests from all over the world are truly spoilt for choice!
