SASC makes World Oceans Day one to remember!

June 18, 2010

World Oceans Day took place on 8 June 2010, and the South African Shark Conservancy (SASC) planned an event that had no holds barred!

From a life-size whale shark mascot and a beach clean-up to the screening of ocean-related films and a community pledge to conserve the oceans, the day was not one to be missed!

You can check out some of the photos here.

This is a video of Meaghen McCord of the SASC explaining how the organisation involves the entire community in the global initiative, and below is a video of the community of Oversrand’s children celebrating World Ocean Day by dressing up as sea creatures and parading along Hermanus’ coastal walk.

Congratulations on your event guys – it seemed to go really well!
